Product Temporary Shortage Announcement May 15, 2012
QCP has been experiencing allocation issues with the following items:
Oxaprozin 600 Mg:
We continue to report that QCP had been informed from our vendors
that there is a continuing market shortage for Oxaprozin 600 Mg.
Several manufacturers have discontinued manufacturing of Oxaprozin
which further creates a market shortage. The remaining manufacturer,
TEVA Pharmaceuticals has issued a new release date of the end of
June 2012 or early July 2012.
Hydrocodone
Mallinckrodt had intermittent supply interruptions
that made Hydrocodone unavailable over the last few
months. This effected all strengths and sizes. The
DEA approved a new production quota in January and they
have been ramping up production to reach sufficient
quantities. Mallincrodt advised QCP/LEM that their
backorders would start being filled and released by
early June. They are still working through a backlog from
the supply interruption and cautioned that there may be
ongoing allocations until the product is adequate to
meet demand.
VOLTAREN GEL 1% 100GM
Endo Pharmaceuticals released a limited supply of Voltaren
Gel 1% in the last two weeks. QCP currently had backorder
in all 3 sizes, 1gm singles, 3 packs and 5 packs. QCP has
been able to fill a limited amount of backorders. Endo released
a limited amount singles 1% 100gm to fill some backorders. Endo
notified wholesalers again this week that they were voluntarily
stopping production to make cGMP manufacturing adjustments at
the Voltaren production facility. There is no release date
available for the ongoing manufacturing issues that Endo's
contract manufacturer is experiencing.
QCP has two alternate Rx products for pain relief,
Tranzgel 50ml (35781-0210-02) and Speedgel Rx 30ml
(35781-0194-05) that may be substituted by the physician.
Both products are FDA approved prescription pain relief
gels that are competitively priced. Both items are
registered with Medispan and Redbook.
Opana ER
Endo has announced that, as a result of a temporary shut-down of
Novartis Consumer Health, Inc's Lincoln, Neb. manufacturing
facility, there will be a short-term supply constraint of Opana ER.
10mg and 5mg. Recently, some higher strengths have been available
for Opana ER. The Opana 10mg immediate release product is still
backordered and not available from QCP or its suppliers.
Methadone 5mg and 10mg
These products are experiencing a higher demand and the manufacturer
has put these products on allocation to the wholesalers. We expect
intermittent supply levels at this time.
QCP will work diligently to fill your backorders as quickly as possible
once the drug becomes available.
QCP Management Team
QCP Introduces New Foil Seals to Improve Quality for 2012!
In our continuous effort to improve quality and safety, QCP has purchased new
induction sealer machines for our bottling lines and is introducing a new foil seal
inside the closure of our bottles. The new seal will be stronger than the current
torque closure with the paper inner seal.
We have over 2,000 items in stock, and the demand for each one varies. The new
foil seals will be installed on our products in the next few months as new lot
numbers are produced and our existing inventory is depleted.
The new foil seal is so strong that it will preclude the need for tamper-evident
neck bands on the outside cap of the bottle, so the inner foil seal will replace the
outer neck-bands. However, we will continue to have neck bands, along with the
new foil seal, for double-protection on our controlled medications at this time.
Your Representative will have samples of the newer bottles to compare to the
bottles on your shelf.
Thank you for your past and continued patronage! We look forward to a bright
and prosperous 2012!
Sincerely,
The QCP Management Team
